Halloween in Willow Glen

Why There is No Halloween Like a Willow Glen Halloween

Ask anyone in San Jose where the best place to be on October 31st is, and they will all say the same thing: Willow Glen.

As a proud Willow Glen resident, Halloween is easily one of my favorite nights of the year. It’s not just about the candy; it’s a full-blown community festival. If you are new to the neighborhood (or just visiting for the spooky vibes), here is my insider guide to doing Halloween right in “San Jose’s Small Town.”

1. The “Decor Wars” are Real One thing I love about living here is how seriously my neighbors take their decorations. We aren’t talking about a few pumpkins on the porch. We are talking about animatronics, synchronized lights, and haunted tunnels.

  • Pro Tip: Take a drive around the neighborhood a week before Halloween. The blocks surrounding Lincoln Avenue usually have the most elaborate displays, and it’s easier to see them from the car before the crowds arrive on the big night.

2. The Trick-or-Treat Hotspots If you are looking for the “movie set” Halloween experience, stick to the streets branching off Lincoln Avenue. Be prepared for crowds—it’s a giant block party!

  • If you prefer a slightly quieter experience for younger kids, the streets further out toward Booksin Elementary or Schallenberger tend to be a bit more navigable while still offering plenty of candy and spirit.

3. Park the Car and Walk This is my #1 tip as a Realtor and a neighbor: Do not try to drive near the main drag after 5:00 PM. The streets are packed with little ghosts and goblins. Park a few blocks away and enjoy the walk—the autumn leaves and festive atmosphere are part of the charm!

Join the Fun Events like this are exactly why Willow Glen is such a special place to call home. It’s rare to find a neighborhood that feels this connected.

Happy Haunting!
