Repair CafĂ© Silicon Valley Returns to Willow Glen: Fix It, Don’t Toss It!

Before you throw away that broken lamp, wobbly chair, or favorite sweater, consider giving it a second chance.

Repair Café Silicon Valley is coming to the Willow Glen Community Center on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:00 p.m., offering a free, hands-on event where volunteers help repair everyday household items—and keep them out of the landfill.

Whether you have something that needs fixing or simply want to learn a new skill, everyone is welcome.

What Is a Repair Café?

A Repair Café is a community event where skilled volunteers share their knowledge and tools to help people repair items they might otherwise throw away.

Instead of replacing broken belongings, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced repair experts to bring them back to life.

The goal is simple: reduce waste, save money, and build a more sustainable community—one repair at a time.

What Can You Bring?

Volunteers can assist with a wide variety of household items, including:

  • Clothing and textiles
  • Small appliances
  • Electronics
  • Lamps
  • Furniture
  • Bicycles
  • Toys
  • Crockery and ceramics
  • And much more

If you’re unsure whether your item can be repaired, organizers provide additional information online about the types of items they can accept.

Interested in Volunteering?

You don’t have to be a professional repair technician to help.

If you enjoy fixing things, organizing events, or simply want to support your community, volunteers are always welcome. Even if you’ve never picked up a screwdriver before, there are plenty of ways to contribute while learning something new.

Repair Cafés are built around neighbors helping neighbors, making them as much about community as they are about repairs.
